About Syrian Shawarma
Shawarma and Middle Eastern classics, made fresh.
Who started Syrian Shawarma?
Two Syrian brothers, Mohamad and Ahmad. Mohamad studied business and Ahmad studied mechanical engineering, and both of them ended up in kitchens instead. They learned shawarma properly in Egypt, working in some of the big Syrian restaurants there, and that is where they opened their first place. When residency became difficult they moved to the United States and started over. Syrian Shawarma opened in the Tampa area on August 5, 2022. Their two younger brothers joined them, and it has been the four of them ever since.
What is Shawarma Kibbeh?
It is theirs. Not a regional recipe they inherited and not a version of something already on other menus in town. They built it out of two things Syrians already love, kibbeh and shawarma, and put them together in a way nobody was doing. It is the dish people come back for, and it is the clearest answer to why this is not another shawarma counter.
What are you actually trying to do here?
Make shawarma the way it is made back home. An Arab family should walk in and taste what they grew up with, with nothing softened for anyone. Everyone else gets to meet Syria through its food, which is a better introduction than any explanation. The brothers are usually in the restaurant, and for the regulars that turns out to be part of the meal.
You asked, we answered.
What is Shawarma Kibbeh?
It is an original dish created by the brothers who own Syrian Shawarma, built from kibbeh and shawarma, two things Syrians already love. You will not find it on other menus because it started here.
Is the food halal?
Yes. Syrian Shawarma is halal certified.
